About IMEG

The Irish Mining and Exploration Group (IMEG) is the representative body for the mining and exploration Industry in Ireland and an affiliate of the Irish Business and employers Confederation (IBEC).

The industry directly employs 1,200 people and over 3,000 in support and downstream jobs. The mining and exploration sector makes a very significant contribution to the Irish economy, particulary to local rural economies, where the mines are among the biggest employers in their region.


Key Issues

IMEG monitors a variety of policy and regulatory issues from across government departments and agencies. IMEG members have identified Mine Closure as the most important issue facing the industry today.
